Flora

Part 9

The road to town

On May 29, I took my regular walk into town.  My first stop was the school.  I found a few new flowers.

Then, I came upon this solitary flower that is so detailed and complex.

On the other side, I found this strange blue flower.  It is slightly out-of-focus.  When I went back to take another picture, the area had been mowed and it was gone.

These flowers were found after the mowing.

This is not a flower, but it made me think.  This is a type of grass and the yellow objects are seeds.  They are waiting for a wind to carry them away.  Fate will tell where they go from here.  "...some fell by the way side and they were trodden down, and the birds ate them.  And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as they sprung up, they withered away because of lack of moisture.  And some fell among weeds, and the weeds sprang up with them and choked them.  And others fell on good ground and sprang up, and bear fruit a hundredfold."  Luke 8

I found another strange flower near the railroad tracks.

At first, I thought this was the same flower, but it is different.

This is close-up of a common flower.

Here is another strange flower.

A few weeks ago, I found this strange yellow flower.  It is turning bright red.  Very strange!

This is not a flower, but it is very colorful.

Here are more of these white blossoms.

Along the tracks, I found another strange flower.  At first, it looked old and dead, but as I looked at it, I realized that it was dark purple with yellow.  Some buds were still green.  Very strange, but very beautiful.

At the entrance to the town beach are flowers that were planted and cultured.

I took a picture from the hill near the beach.

These were growing outside the pizza shop.

I went back into the woods for the next part of my trek.  I found a very tiny and beautiful flower which I have tried repeatedly to photograph.  My camera is auto-focus and sometimes I cannot get it to focus.  Below are a tiny plant of only several inches.  One of the plants still has the seed shell attached.

The shape of these leaves is incredible.

Here are some fern.

As I passed a sophisticated multi-house driveway, I noticed some flowers.

The stem of this flower is a fern, but most of the flowers I have seen are white.

More of this delicate flower.

My weekly excursion to town is finished!
